サトヤマテラス
サウナやBBQを楽しめる集落のようなグランピング施設。敷地は野生動物や蛍の棲む山裾にあり、豊富な湧水が流れ込む水田跡地であった。しかし川から水を運んでいた水路は埋まり、その粘性土と相まって水はけが悪く荒廃していた。私達は環境再生と新たな商業の両立を目指し、地下に閉じ込められた水と空気の循環による土質改善を試みた。古来からの知恵を継承し、斜面下に水路を掘り、山から川への水脈を呼び戻す。また地表のノシバ筋張りや護岸の空石積みなど、この地の植生が再び根付く余地をつくった。試行錯誤を重ねながらも土中環境を整えた事により、当初は腐敗臭の漂っていた敷地にそよ風が流れ、様々な生物が戻り始めている。来訪者が滞在を楽しみながら里に関わり山を育てる、里山再生の一端を担う予定。

SATOYAMA TERRACE
A glamping retreat where guests can enjoy saunas and BBQs amid a village-like landscape. Set at the foot of a mountain where fireflies shimmer and wild animals roam. The site, once terraced rice paddies nourished by mountain springs, had long fallen into disrepair. Its irrigation channels were buried, the soil that were rich in clay had lost its permeability. Our design sought to reconcile ecological regeneration with contemporary leisure, reviving the living systems once intrinsic to the landscape. Drawing on traditional wisdom, we excavated a new waterway along the slope to reconnect the mountain’s underground streams with the river below. On the surface, open-stone retaining walls and native noshiba turf stitching created space for local vegetation to reestablish itself, allowing the land’s natural ecosystem to take root once again. As the underground ecosystem recovered, the scent of decay gave way to a gentle mountain breeze. Birds, insects, and countless small lives have since returned.
